...oh, and Cottage Pie but todays its Crumble!...
This is a recipe I have done time and time again and it never fails. I like this recipe as it has a little twist which I think really works and makes this just a little more superior than its standard crumble counterpart. Those ingredients that create the extra magic and make this dessert sing are port and walnuts! #crumble #port #walnuts #comfortfood
A little fact from Wikipedia: Crumbles became popular in Britain during the 2nd World War when the topping was an economical alternative to pies due to shortages of pastry ingredients as the result of rationing. To further reduce the use of flour, fat and sugar; breadcrumbs or oatmeal could be added to the crumble mix. The dish was also popular due to its simplicity.
After a walk in the woods, to come home to this is perfection – and that’s exactly what we did yesterday! And as per the Wikipedia blurb above, crumble is such a simple and relatively quick pudding to rustle up, especially if you use a food processor to do the work for the topping! #foodie #homemadefood
Thank you, Gregg Wallace, for this recipe, its safely stored in my ‘family favourites’ recipe folder and as I have already said, this is a recipe that I have done lots and lots over the years. When you see Rhubarb in your supermarket, grab it and give this a go, I am sure you won’t be disappointed.

Then the only consideration left is whether to have it with custard, cream or ice cream, or a combination? Custard all the way for me but what do you prefer?
Custard for me!
